Gratitude!
I really want to take some time to talk about gratitude, and its importance especially in the context of James 1:17. It is so easy in today’s culture to take our lives and our gifts for granted, and even expect them. I know for me personally, I take the day to day gifts for granted way too often, like my fully stocked pantry and my warm bed with heating to protect me from the cold.
Thank you Jesus for the Little Things:
I think that, as Christians, we are called to gratitude for the little things. James 1:17 says that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17, ESV). I think this verse is an amazing reminder that every time anything good happens to us, it is from the Lord and it is a gift we should thank Him for! It is easy to take the good for granted and complain when things get difficult or complicated, but I think we need to flip that around.
Gratitude Journaling
One way to be more grateful is to practice gratitude journaling! It is such an easy way to practice daily gratitude. It can be digital or on paper, just make sure you set aside time every day to list out a certain amount of things you’re grateful for. Don’t just think big, think small things you usually take for granted! We have so much to thank God for! Happy journaling. :)
